Are you familiar with the construction project on one of St. Albert’s most iconic corners?
It’s been a minute since we said goodbye to The Blind Pig, and you might be wondering what will take its place:
Saint A Square, a seven-storey residential building with commercial space on the main floor on a challenging building site.
Espira Engineering Ltd., a geotechnical engineering firm and one of our coworking members, takes center stage in this endeavor, engineering the creation of Canada’s first 0 emission high-rise!
Located just down the road from St. Albert Coworking, this 8-story (7 stories of residential units, one story for commercial use), 118-unit high rise is a testament to architectural excellence and commitment to sustainability. Constructed atop a 2-storey underground parkade, the future building will have a permanent cofferdam, a necessary measure due to the unique aquifer beneath.
The future mixed-use building is situated strategically on a rapid transit corridor for St. Albert Transit.
Future residents will enjoy easy connectivity to various locations in Edmonton, with a transit stop just a quick 50 meter walk from the building with the future LRT station just 500 meters to the northeast.
The engineering team is utilizing a combination of precast concrete and structural steel, ensuring both durability and efficiency in the building’s design.
What sets this project apart is the incorporation of the aquifer for heating and cooling, resulting in a groundbreaking 0 emissions structure. Learn more about the innovative work of geotechnical engineers and
